Can someone tell me where the kiss scene for R would be?? I did their route but I think I accidently skipped over it somehow and I dont really feel like going back and reading through it again😭
I've been reading COG's and other similar games for years now, and I have come across many of them. I must say that A Tale of Crowns is definitely in my top 10. One of the things I really look for in these games is the romance, and this game does not disappoint. All the romance options have unique personalities that complement each other well. I was genuinely torn between romancing all four of them, but in the end, I chose R because she's my favorite.
The only thing that bothered me, and this is just my personal opinion, is the main character's personality. Hear me out, I understand where the MC is coming from - being poor, on the run, and having to navigate the challenges of leading a country. But sometimes, his whiny attitude just gets on my nerves. Throughout the game, whenever the MC is left alone with his thoughts, he constantly doubts himself and feels inferior to everyone else especially with how clueless he is most of the game. It's a bit irritating, to be honest.
I know this is a common trope in many games, where the MC starts from the bottom and rises to power, but I hope that in future chapters, the self-deprecating nature of the MC's personality can be toned down a bit. I haven't finished the latest chapters yet, currently on chapter 8, but I felt the need to share my thoughts on the MC's default personality.
Overall, it's a great game and I'm excited to see the finished product. I hope there will be more projects like this in the future.
I definitely understand your concerns regarding the MC. Chapter 8 is an especially emotionally loaded chapter for the MC due to the conversation about their parents, and brings traumatic memories to the surface, but it's not going to be like this all the way through. It's necessary to build up their character arc first so that the eventual payoff is equally satisfying.
I do think it's a bit harsh to call it whiny, though. The MC is balancing a lot for a person who wasn't prepared or raised into this kind of position while dealing with PTSD and unresolved grief at the same time.
I think once you've finished playing through the rest of the chapters you'll start seeing the growth the MC is working towards as well 🙏🏼
i was playing this game in the middle of the night and i got the "error: child tag <</if>> was found outside of a call to its parent macro <<if>>" error and my verzephobic butt almost had a heart attack

Literally it was so inmersive. And I have to tell you this, the way you wrote that romantic scene with the MC and R, was pure GOLD. There was a part were the MC says they felt drunk and dizzy AND I FELT IT! I was feeling like that, it was so great, this is a gem and I'm anxiously waiting on the next chapter.
Normally when I play games like this (or any with multiple romanceable characters) I am easily able to pick one love interest immediately. This game was NOT the case!
All of the LIs were so complex and interesting that I accidently died in my first run-through simply because I couldn't choose between them! After an eaney- meany I started with R and now two days straight of playing I've played through every significant change I can think of!

this game made my year and honestly all the lis were so fun as romance prospects and as friends lol <3 D especially, i just adore stoic characters except not to mc type romances (and height differences bonus??!) love love this game and the effort put into it, happy new year to you and i can't wait for what more you have to offer! <3

I think it depends on what you say to him when he was talking about his mom i don't really remember which option it was but it was something like "its not your moms fault" , " its not you or your moms fault." and "its not your fault." but i think i picked its not his fault. i really hope this helps :)

@qeresi - beautifully done friend. One of my top choices/faves for interactive stories. The interpersonal communication and fluff is fantastic and well thought out - even to the point of making fluff help define characters (D's plottings, X's interruptions). *chef's kiss* 🤌
I am so glad I found this game. I've been sleep deprived for the last two days going through the chapters. The writing is so good, it has returned to me the thrill of reading. Personally, I adore D since I'm a sucker for the stoic person for everyone, soft person for mc character types. Unfortunately, I'm currently in an unsteady relationship with him 🥲
